Best Local Citation Sites in 2026: Top Directories with Domain Authority

A citation is any online mention of your business name, address and phone number. The right ones tell Google your business is real, active and located where you say it is. The wrong ones, or inconsistent ones, quietly hold your rankings back.

This is the citation list we work from at AmplifyKlicks: the platforms every business needs first, the highest-authority general directories ranked by Domain Authority, the US directories and data aggregators, India-specific sources, and niche directories by industry. We checked the links on 5 October 2026 and removed sites that no longer load. It is the practical reference behind our citation building service.

Top general citation sites ranked by Domain Authority

Ranked by Domain Authority using the figures published in BrightLocal’s top general citation sites list. Access shows whether a free listing is available.

How to read Domain Authority. DA is a 1 to 100 score from Moz that predicts how well a site ranks. Higher means a stronger site, but it is not a Google ranking factor. Use it to prioritise, then check relevance: a directory that matches your industry or city beats a generic one with a higher score. DA moves over time, so verify the current score in a Moz or Ahrefs check before paying for any listing. Sources we could not reach on 5 October 2026 (The Dots, StartUs, GlobalCatalog, FindIt, Just Landed and Yellow.place) were left out.

US directories and data aggregators (Whitespark’s top sources)

Whitespark ranks these as the most influential citation sources in the United States. Data aggregators (Data Axle, Neustar Localeze, Foursquare and Dun & Bradstreet) are the ones to prioritise, because they pass your details to many other directories. Factual is no longer listed because it now redirects to Foursquare. The sources above that also appear on Whitespark’s list (Google, Apple, Facebook, Foursquare, Bing, Yelp, TomTom, HERE, Yahoo Local, Brownbook, Cylex, Hotfrog, Infobel, Tupalo, BOTW, ShowMeLocal) are not repeated here.

Domain Authority was not published for these sources in the reference lists, so no score is shown. Check the current score for any site before you invest in a paid listing.

India-specific citation sources

If your customers are in Vadodara, Gujarat or anywhere in India, these directories carry far more local relevance than most US listings. They are not part of the three reference lists above; we add them for Indian clients.

India's largest local search and business listing platform.

Local services marketplace with strong city-level pages.

B2B marketplace, essential for manufacturers, suppliers and traders.

B2B directory for Indian exporters, suppliers and manufacturers.

Export-focused B2B directory.

Indian business directory with city and category pages.

Industry-specific citation sources

Niche directories send more qualified customers than generic ones, and Google treats them as strong relevance signals. Drawn from Moz’s citations-by-category data, filtered to sites that were still live on 5 October 2026. These lean US-centric, so confirm that a directory serves your market first. How to use this list without hurting your rankings

More citations is not the goal. Consistent, accurate and relevant citations are.

  1. Lock your NAPDecide the exact business name, address and phone number format once and use it everywhere, character for character.
  2. Audit before you addSearch for existing listings first. Claim and correct them, and merge or remove duplicates before creating new ones.
  3. Work top-downCore listings, then data aggregators, then relevant industry and location directories, then the wider DA list.
  4. Skip irrelevant sitesA high-DA directory that does not serve your country or industry adds little. Relevance comes first.
  5. Track everythingKeep a sheet of site, login, URL, date and status so you can update every listing when your details change.
  6. Re-check quarterlyAggregators overwrite data and duplicates reappear. A regular audit keeps your NAP clean.

Citations work best alongside a fully optimised Google Business Profile, reviews and a strong set of local ranking factors. See how this fits into our full Local SEO services and our approach to ranking in Google Maps.

Local citation sites: frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most.

What is the best citation site for local SEO?

Google Business Profile is the most important listing for any local business, followed by Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Facebook, LinkedIn and Yelp. After those, data aggregators such as Data Axle, Neustar Localeze and Foursquare matter because they feed many smaller directories.

How many citations does a local business need?

There is no magic number. Start with the 12 to 15 core platforms, add the data aggregators, then 10 to 20 relevant industry and location directories. Accuracy and relevance beat volume, so a handful of consistent, trusted listings outperforms hundreds of low-quality ones.

Does domain authority matter when choosing citation sites?

It is a useful filter but not the only one. A high-authority directory carries more trust, yet a niche directory with lower authority that is relevant to your industry or city can be worth more. Always check that the directory is real, is indexed by Google and shows your NAP accurately.

Should I pay for citation listings?

Free listings cover most needs. Paid options such as BOTW, Cylex or premium Foursquare and Waze tiers can be worthwhile when the directory is relevant and well trafficked, but never pay for a listing you cannot verify actually ranks or gets traffic.

Are these US citation sites useful for businesses in India?

The global platforms (Google, Apple, Bing, Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare, OpenStreetMap, Brownbook, Cybo and similar) work anywhere. US-only directories add little for an Indian business, so pair the global list with India directories such as JustDial, Sulekha and IndiaMART. Our team builds this mix for businesses in Vadodara and across Gujarat.
