Schema Markup Services: Structured Data That Search Engines and AI Can Trust
Most business websites have schema. Most of it is duplicated, contradictory or describing things the page does not show. We audit it, design one clean entity graph, and implement structured data that is accurate, eligible and maintainable.

“We Already Have Schema” — Usually Not the Schema You Think
When we extract the structured data from a typical business website, we rarely find none. We find three Organization entities with three different names, a theme outputting one LocalBusiness block and an SEO plugin outputting another, review stars marked up on the homepage with nothing visible to support them, and product prices that stopped matching the page two price changes ago.
None of that throws an obvious error on the site. It simply tells search engines conflicting things about who you are — and at worst, it earns a manual action for spammy structured data.
Definition
Schema markup is structured data, written with the Schema.org vocabulary, that describes the things on a page — an organisation, a product, a person, a service, an event — and how they relate, in a format machines can read without interpreting prose. Google recommends the JSON-LD format: a script block in the page that sits separately from the visible design.
Schema is the machine-readable layer of technical SEO work as a whole. Done well, it is invisible to visitors and unambiguous to every system that reads your site.
What Schema Does — and What It Does Not
| Claim | Reality |
|---|---|
| “Schema boosts rankings” | Not directly. Google has said structured data is not a general ranking factor. It improves understanding and eligibility for enhanced results. |
| “Schema gets you rich results” | It makes a page eligible. Google decides whether to show them, and valid markup is no guarantee. |
| “More schema is better” | Only accurate schema helps. Markup describing content that is not visible, or that contradicts the page, is a guideline violation. |
| “Schema helps AI search” | It gives AI systems clean, unambiguous facts and entity relationships, which supports accurate representation. It does not force citation. |
| “A plugin handles it” | Plugins provide a good baseline graph. Business-specific types, product detail, authors and sameAs links usually need deliberate work. |
Rich results in 2026: what still appears
Google has narrowed the rich result types it shows. HowTo rich results were retired in 2023, FAQ rich results were restricted the same year to well-known government and health websites, and a further set of lesser-used features was phased out in 2025. The types that still matter most for businesses are:
- Product and merchant listings — price, availability, shipping and return details, and review ratings in Search and Shopping surfaces.
- Review snippets — for products and other eligible types. Self-serving reviews of your own LocalBusiness or Organization are not eligible for stars.
- Breadcrumbs — a cleaner URL path in results.
- Organization — logo, contact details and identity signals used in knowledge panels.
- Article, Video, Event, Recipe, JobPosting, Course, ProfilePage and DiscussionForum — where the content genuinely matches.
We plan schema around what is eligible for your business today, not around features that no longer display.
Schema We Implement, by Business Type
| Business | Core types | Properties that matter most |
|---|---|---|
| Local service business | Specific LocalBusiness subtype, Organization, Service, BreadcrumbList | Name, address and phone matching your Business Profile, geo, openingHoursSpecification, areaServed, sameAs |
| Clinics and dentists | MedicalClinic, Dentist, Physician, MedicalProcedure where appropriate | Practitioner credentials, medicalSpecialty, availableService, accurate hours and location |
| Ecommerce stores | Product, Offer, AggregateRating, Review, MerchantReturnPolicy, OfferShippingDetails | Price and currency in INR, availability, GTIN or MPN, brand, return and shipping policies kept in sync with the page |
| Manufacturers and B2B | Organization, Product, Service, Brand | Specifications via additionalProperty, certifications, manufacturer, material, areaServed |
| Publishers and blogs | Article, Person, Organization, BreadcrumbList | Author as a Person with credentials and profile links, datePublished and dateModified that reflect real edits |
| Education and coaching | EducationalOrganization, Course, Event | Course provider, mode, schedule, location, fees where published |
| Events and venues | Event, Place, Offer | Start date and time with timezone, eventStatus, attendance mode, ticket offers |
For single-location and multi-branch businesses, our LocalBusiness schema property guide goes deeper into the local layer, including how to mark up several branches without confusing Google about which page describes which location.
One Entity Graph, Not a Pile of Snippets
The difference between adequate and excellent schema is whether it forms a connected graph. Instead of isolated blocks on each page, every node has a stable identifier and references the others:
- One Organization node, defined once with a permanent
@id, referenced by every page, service, article and product. - Person nodes for your founders and authors, linked to the Organization and to the content they write, which supports the experience and expertise signals Google’s quality guidelines describe.
- sameAs links that tie your entity to its verified profiles — Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, industry directories and, where one exists, a Wikidata item.
- WebPage nodes that declare what each page is about and which entity is its main subject.
{"@type":"Service",
"@id":"https://example.com/services/x/#service",
"provider":{"@id":"https://example.com/#organization"},
"areaServed":{"@type":"City","name":"Vadodara"}}That structure is where schema meets entity SEO and knowledge graph work: the aim is for search engines to recognise your business as a single, well-defined entity with clear relationships, not a set of keyword-matched pages. If the concept is new, our guide to semantic SEO fundamentals explains why that matters.
Schema and AI Search
AI assistants and answer engines work best with facts they can extract confidently. Structured data provides exactly that: your legal name, what you sell, where you operate, who runs the business, what a product costs and whether it is in stock. Microsoft has said publicly that structured data helps its systems understand content, and Google continues to recommend it for eligibility and understanding.
We are careful with the claim. Schema does not make ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI Overviews cite you. It removes ambiguity so that, when your content is good enough to be used, it is represented accurately. It is one input into AI search visibility through GEO, alongside content that directly answers questions and authority built elsewhere.
Our Schema Implementation Process
- Extraction audit. We crawl the whole site and extract every JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa block, then validate them with Google’s Rich Results Test, the Schema Markup Validator and Search Console enhancement reports.
- Conflict and risk review. Duplicated entities, contradictory values, invisible or self-serving markup, and anything that risks a structured data manual action.
- Entity model. We define your Organization, people, locations, services and products once, with permanent identifiers and verified sameAs links.
- Template mapping. Each page template — home, service, location, product, category, article, contact — gets a defined set of types and properties.
- Implementation. Server-rendered JSON-LD through your theme, CMS fields or SEO plugin configuration, so values update automatically when content changes. We avoid hard-coded prices and tag-manager-only injection wherever possible.
- Validation. Every template tested before and after launch, plus spot checks of rendered pages with URL Inspection.
- Monitoring. Search Console enhancement reports watched for new errors, and schema rechecked after theme, plugin or product feed changes.
The Schema Mistakes We Fix Most Often
| Mistake | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Markup for content users cannot see | Violates Google’s structured data guidelines and can lead to a manual action removing rich result eligibility |
| Self-serving review stars on your own business | Not eligible for review rich results, and fabricated ratings are a spam risk |
| Theme and plugin both outputting schema | Duplicate or conflicting entities, so search engines cannot tell which is authoritative |
| Generic types where specific ones exist | “LocalBusiness” instead of “Dentist” throws away useful meaning |
| Stale prices, availability or hours | Mismatches with the page erode trust and can disqualify product results |
| Missing required properties | The markup is valid Schema.org but ineligible for the rich result it was meant for |
| Inconsistent name, address and phone | Weakens the local entity signals that support Maps and local results |
For stores, product schema is maintained alongside product-level ecommerce SEO, because prices, variants and stock change constantly and markup has to follow them automatically.

Schema is one part of a site’s technical health. If you need the full picture first, our technical audit engagement covers structured data alongside crawling, indexing and performance. And because heavy plugin-generated markup can add page weight, we coordinate with our Core Web Vitals improvement service where both are in scope.
Schema work like this is handled by our team at AmplifyKlicks, as one part of the complete AmplifyKlicks services menu, delivered through the Vadodara SEO team behind this work and our AI-led digital marketing work in Vadodara.
Schema Markup FAQs
Does schema markup improve Google rankings?
Not directly. Google has said structured data is not a general ranking factor. It helps search engines understand what a page is about and makes the page eligible for rich results such as product prices, review stars and breadcrumbs, which can improve click-through rate. The ranking benefit is indirect, through better understanding and better-looking results.
Which schema type does a local business need?
Use the most specific LocalBusiness subtype that genuinely describes you, such as Dentist, Restaurant, RealEstateAgent or ProfessionalService, with name, address, phone, opening hours, geo coordinates, url and sameAs links to your Google Business Profile and social profiles. Add Organization details sitewide and BreadcrumbList on inner pages. The details must match what is visible on the page and on your Business Profile.
Is JSON-LD better than Microdata?
Google supports JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa, but recommends JSON-LD because it sits in a single script block separate from the visible HTML. That makes it easier to implement, maintain and audit, and less likely to break when a designer changes the page layout.
Will FAQ schema still show FAQ rich results?
For most sites, no. Since August 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. FAQPage markup is still valid Schema.org and still describes the page to machines, but a business website should not expect expandable FAQ results in Google from it.
Can schema markup help my business appear in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews?
It can help, but it is not a switch. Structured data gives AI systems unambiguous facts about your organisation, products, people and locations, and it reinforces entity relationships. Whether you are cited still depends on content quality, authority and how well your pages answer the question. No provider can honestly guarantee AI citations from schema alone.
Do I need schema services if I already use Yoast or Rank Math?
Those plugins output a solid baseline graph for Organization, WebSite, WebPage, Article and BreadcrumbList. They rarely cover specific business types, detailed Product and Offer properties, service catalogues, authors with credentials, or accurate sameAs links, and they can conflict with schema added by themes and other plugins. We usually extend and correct the plugin graph rather than replace it.
